Small Business Compliance Assistance Program
Free and Confidential Comprehensive Environmental Assistance

The Small Business Compliance Assistance Program (SBCAP) was created to assist Vermont's regulated community in achieving compliance with environmental regulations and promoting cooperation between the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the regulated community.

To achieve its goal, the SBCAP focuses on outreach efforts to businesses to make them aware of new and existing regulations. SBCAP encourages businesses to use pollution prevention as a means of achieving compliance and reducing their overall regulatory burden whenever possible. Prevention is often the most cost effective way to deal with environmental compliance issues. Assistance is provided through:

The VT DEC Conditionally Exempt Generator (CEG) On-line Course includes quizzes

for users to test their knowledge, as well as many other useful links.  Register with the

site and a Certificate of Completion will be awarded when you have successfully

finished the course.  The site also maintains a Virtual Hazardous Waste Storage Area

where you can also test your knowledge.

     
 

The Funding Opportunities Fact Sheet for Small Businesses will help you identify

funding sources and financial programs that are right for your business.

     
 

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s oil pollution prevention regulation requires facilities that maintain 1,320 gallons of petroleum prepare and implement a plan to

prevent discharges.  The plan is referred to as the Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan. Learn important amendments to this

The Underground Storage Tank (UST) Program is now requiring all tank operations to

comply with the Environmental Results Program (ERP), a self-certification program.
